The Future of Live Music (Haylee Column)

I see the future of live music being different from what we once knew. Can we ever fully regain what we once had?! Maybe, but I think it is going to be a while. Limited capacity, face masks and seats in venues are going to become the new norm. I also think streaming the concerts for a fee will also become a big part of the industry moving forward.

I actually enjoyed my first concert stream last night of Playa Cuberris at La Riviera in Madrid, where I paid for a ticket and was able to enjoy the concert in the comfort of my own home. Of course, it was not the same as actually being there on the front row, but it was very well done, the camera positioning and angles were executed in a way that you actually felt like you were sat in the audience. It was amazing, and something I would definitely do again.

it might be what helps keep the culture of live music alive, or at least be a band aid.

I also liked how it was left up to yourself of how much you wanted to pay for the ticket, there was a minimum amount set, and you were able to pay more if you wanted to, along with other packages being available which included exclusive access and signed CDs.

I think If bands have the opportunity to offer concert streaming as an option for their fans, they should not think twice about it because we live in a world of modern technology, and I feel now is the time to fully utilised it to its full potential, as it might be what helps keep the culture of live music alive, or at least be a band aid.
